I feel spring is finally sprung and can start coming out of my mental and physical hibernation.
Things still precarious - the credit crunch gets worse daily and depression soars - but at least the sun is shining more now.
I have been busy despite my lack of posts. Had lots of work deadlines too.
Two highlights - going to see Avenue Q, going to a Scottish Reel.
(That's a Scottish dance with loads of people charging around the room in organised chaos twirling each other around and hopping opposite each other like pixies on speed.)

It's been a while...
It snowed, London ground to a halt, I had two more job interviews that again seemed to lead nowhere.
I think I can make a career out of applying for jobs and going to interviews now.
I swear there isn't a question yet I haven't been asked.
On a more happy note, I popped off to Egypt, did a lot of yoga, went snorkelling, climbed Mount Sinai, saw the sun rise and thought - this is good.
The sun, the sea, exercise, good people, nice food - a new woman returned to fight another day.

Keeping your pecker up...
My grandma has repeatedly said to me to "keep my pecker" up.
This always has the effect of producing a wry smile as I think...hmmmn...things were different in the good ol' days.
I decided to look up the origin of this strange phrase.
Keep your pecker up
Meaning
Remain cheerful - keep your head held high.
Origin
Whilst pecker is a word now associated with American slang the usage here is the English pecker, i.e. nose or mouth, as opposed to the American, i.e. penis. The phrase is equivalent to keep your chin up.
The pecker is generally thought of as the mouth, although the earliest known use of the word in this phrase clearly alludes to the nose. The imagery is of a bird that pecks for food. That citation is from The Times, September 1845:
"Mr. King... misstated the fact in saying that he had put a piece of lighted paper to the master's nose while asleep in that house; it was his hot pipe that he applied to the sleeper's nostrils, at the same time crying: Come, old chap, keep your pecker up."
Today she said my behaviour showed spunk.
Clearly she thinks I am having a better time than I actually am.

Healing
I went to see a healer on Switzerland.
Apparently I have four ghosts attached to me.
Now before you burst out laughing, apparently we all have ghosts that settle around us, hand around etc. particularly if you've ever been to hospital!
So - the last time I went to hospital, it was Rome.
I wonder if they speak Italian.

The reason I love ski ing is the mountains and the magic.

This week has been weird.
I was promised a job again. By everyone except the very person that would've been my boss. He didn't want me.
Why?
I have no idea.
So all sorts of reasons were fabricated why I couldn't do it.
I think the answer is simple -no one likes having someone foisted upon them. They want to hire their own staff and makes their own decisions or mistakes.
Me - I was naive. Thought - yeah - how cool to have someone lined up for you already but the more I thought about it, the more I realised people's egos don't work that way.
We make our choices and we live with them.
